What is Our Pre-K/Kindergarten Readiness Program?
Here at A Creative Start, located in Springfield, MO, we start our preschool/kindergarten readiness program with students at the age of two. This is before children typically experience any schooling, but the benefits of starting them early are myriad. By the time our students are assessed to start kindergarten we have them testing above where they need and are expected to be. We ensure that your child will hit all of the academic milestone associated with their age group, but they have a strong chance of significantly exceeding them as well. Our program ensures that they will not lose a step when they enter preschool or kindergarten, that they will be able to build upon a bedrock of knowledge. In this way your child will hit the ground running, putting them on the path to excel academically both now and in the future.
What Does the Program Entail?
We can teach your child many things during the course of our preschool/kindergarten readiness program. We teach them how to write in uppercase letters, more intuitive for their stage of development. They will learn how to write their names, to write “from the sky to the ground” (from the top of a page to the bottom), and how to hold a pencil correctly. We will teach them about some basic grammatical concepts, like prepositions. They will learn not only how to count from one to ten, but also how to count by 2s, 5s, and 20s. We will also help them with some of their motor functions, including the usage of lotto games/manipulative, teaching them how to skip, and much more. Finally, we will help them learn how to sit and take basic direction, a key skill they will need once they enter the next phase of their education. We assess our students twice a year, in May and October, to make sure they are on the right path.
